A Crash Course in Making Friends

Laine is a former farm girl who joins the Mega expedition along with her big brother. After the crash most of the colonists are busy trying to figure out how they are going to survive. Laine on the other hand, is busy trying to catch a bird.

Or rather something that looks like a bird. She knows it will be useful in its own way; she just needs to get it, and herself, back to camp in one piece first.

But a literal run-in with one of the birdlike creatures and an appearance from one of the terrifying predators makes that a difficult task. Without a weapon to protect herself with, Laine has to rely on her own two feet and hope the creature she was trying to catch is useful sooner than later.
