A Waste of a Human Being

Alcohol abuse rendered me useless and self-hating. I was aware that I was not born to end up on the garbage heap, as one fellow-sufferer put it; I was made for much better things. There is help and there is hope, no matter how far down the line one has stumbled. Don't let pride stand in the way-- it is the number one sin of the seven deadly. The contents of this story are of my personal experience. I drank and smoked most of my life.  At fifty-five, I went back to school and obtained my high school diploma. At sixty, I began to write. If I can do it-- truly, so can you.

The mirror never lies: the sun will come back and so will your smile . . .
