The only brother of the Mason siblings is Winter Knight or Win to his friends and family. Solitary and recluse, he is still trying to move beyond the loss of his college girlfriend. She cut off all communication when he was called away to help his sister in California. If he can find her and tell her what happened, maybe he can move on and have a serious relationship. Returning to New Mexico he reunited with his three sisters and enjoyed his new life on the ranch. The only thing missing from his life was a wife and a family of his own.
Andrea Peterson took a job in New York. She changed her name and hoped to never see her college boyfriend again. She let jealousy and hurt rule her decision then, but she never forgot the man she loved.
After two years in the city, she was feeling good about her life. Then she had to deal with a man who stalked her for months. He became violent and she defended herself. The man was in Jail for a long time. She decided it was time to stop hiding in fear and built her self-esteem up and she changed her appearance as well. She no longer looked or felt like a victim.
That is until her assailant got out of prison and tried to find her at her office. People had been hurt, the suspect got away and the police could not help her. She took a leave of absence and left the city to stay with her friend in New Mexico.
