In the early 21st century mankind broke through the last exploration barrier. It was believed that faster than light (FTL) travel was a physical impossibility. Scientists throughout the ages had insisted that life, as we knew it, would cease to exist at FTL speeds. Molecular bonds would break down and matter would dissolve to the most basic of elements. The predictions proved to be false, but the discovery did prove to be a double edged sword. The commerce that resulted from intergalactic trade proved to be one sided and Earth was ravaged in the years that followed.

A secret organization was formed to find a way to escape what Earth had become. The plan was to build five ships that would carry the human race to another world where they would have a fresh start. The founders of “the mission” knew that their escape would have to be secret to prevent being followed. Executing the plan was expensive on many levels, but it really was the only option.

That group succeeded in its mission to build the ships and gather the people to start over. Now they must survive the journey to what will be their new home.
