Can't Dream It Up is a family saga inspired by true events with a hint of romance and an ending with a hook. A trail of excitement is left behind when working parents, Spencer and Pepper Anne, learn their adopted child, Huck, has a manic personality that lends itself to risk taking and intropunitive behavior. As Huck ages, they discover that his serial monogamous relationships with women are a recipe for disaster. Emotion is evoked when both humorous and unpleasant circumstances unfold as they progress through the life cycle in East Tennessee and Southern California between the 1960's and early 21st century.
Lifelong observations of ambiguous relationships on the job, in the family unit, and among friends provided the foundation for the story. Historical events and cultural differences shape the lives of the characters, while they enjoy travel, vacations, sports, holidays, and birthdays. Their philosophy for life emerges as they make decisions about involvement vs. noninvolvement, logic vs. emotion, punishment vs. reward, rural vs. big city, and last but not least, to have children or not to have children.
The concept for this ebook came into existence after attending a seminar for writing ebooks and is classified as non fiction. Since it was written from the heart and based on true events, the names of characters were changed to keep their identity confidential. All schools and some locations were renamed to protect the personalities who lived and worked there. Many thanks to my husband, Spencer, who spent many hours editing and serving as a mentor.
