A Chapter in the History of a Tyrone Family (1839)
which may have influenced Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre. This story was later reworked and expanded by Le Fanu as The Wyvern Mystery (1869).

A sea captain, living in Dublin, is stalked by "The Watcher", a strange dwarf who resembles a person from his past.

The Familiar (1872)
A sea captain, living in Dublin, is stalked by "The Watcher", a strange dwarf who resembles a person from his past. He starts to hear accusatory voices all about him, and eventually his fears solidify in the form of a sinister bird, a pet owl owned by his fiancée, Miss Montague.

Willing to Die (1876)
The author's last work, published posthumously.
