AT DCI, WE BELIEVE IT IS 'GROWTH'

Mumbai, 2061

Josh found the bar he was looking for. The city of Mumbai was always crowded, with cars packed from sidewalk to sidewalk, marching through the street in tightly packed lines.

He had asked the front desk clerk where the nearest working-man-whiskey bar was, and after asking for a second set of directions while lost, Josh found the pink neon sign that read, “And Mortar” just above a smaller hand-made sign that read, “Genes Not Welcome“. At the front door, a quick prick of his finger, an excuse for the beanie on his head, and a satisfied bouncer offered him entrance.

Josh moved through the mass of people, through the crowd of the discontented poor looking for solace in bottles. His knowledge of bars led him toward where the bar should be, and sure enough, he found it, along with another sign labeled, “No Pluses at the Bar”. His agent, Gerry Sandoval, had once used the word ‘seedy’ to describe dinky dive bars, but he wasn’t quite sure that this would count.
