In the Land of Fools

Three weary travellers on a mission to find The Tree of Wisdom happen upon Edidare, a city of astounding squalor. Edidare is ruled by an idiot king together with a gathering of counsellors whose interests persistently dwell on alimentary pursuits. The restive youths of Edidare see in the coming of the travellers a hope of avoiding imminent war against the rulers. However, all efforts by the sojourners to make peace fail, leaving the youth to a decision that violence would be the only way out of their oppression. The travellers see in this encounter a warning for the declining state of their own country.
