This fast-moving thriller centres round a professional blues singer who has served a prison sentence for the manslaughter of her drug-addicted boyfriend. Because of this experience, Brox is determined to help the friends she made inside by starting a security business staffed by and using the unique skills of her fellow ex-cons. This leads to a somewhat dubious but highly lucrative assignment in which she is set up as the number one suspect for a multi-million international financial scam. Fortunately, the detective assigned to the case believes in her innocence and she is released without charge. Two years later, those believed to be the original perpetrators of the crime have been tracked down to their hide-out in Argentina and Brox is forced to travel to South America to identify the pair. The ‘syndicate’ is determined to recover the vast sums of money that they in turn have acquired by illegal means and how they go about this, and the part Brox has still to play in the drama, brings the story to an exciting and unexpected climax.
