Kurosaki Killed the Cat is the autobiography of John Jarvis. John served in the New Zealand Army as an Explosive Technition and after discharge joined the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery serving in avalanche control in the Canadian Rockies and NATO forces in West Germany.Leaving the army he began training in Kyokushin Karate under Steve Arniel in London. He trained for a year in 1967 in Tokyo under Mas Oyama and qualified third dan. He became Chairman of of Australasia and the Pacific Islands and was promoted to fifth dan. John also trained under Kuroda Sensei at the Tokyo Riot Police School studying Iaido and was promoted 2nd dan. He trained at the Rembukan Dojo under Shimizu Sensei, Donn Dreager and graded 2nd dan in both Jodo and Tanjo. John changed systems in 1971 to Okinawa Goju Ryu and was graded 5th dan by Higgaona Morio. He retired in 1987 as the most qualified martial arts teacher in Australasia.
