Isabel Archer, an insurance investigator in San Francisco, investigates her mothers death at Lockleigh Castle. Isabel suspects murder. Her mother offered to sell one kidney to Isabels anglophile uncle, a shady billionaire dying of kidney disease. Her uncle purchased Lockleigh Castle from Lord Warburton. Isabel meets the castles snarky residents. Each one seems capable of murder. She questions genial Lord Warburton. He finds the American girl cheeky, but attractive. Isabel finds herself wondering WHERE theyll make love. In a moat? But her violent former lover arrives, her principal suspect is shot to death, and a wolfhound paws the murder weapon.
