My family has seen many people come and go throughout the years. Some came for a reason, others for a season. Some were anticipated for a lifetime, but then life happened.

Some years back, a little boy came into our lives. He stayed with us off and on for a few years. Through life's circumstances we lost contact with him, leaving an empty space in my heart. I cried. I prayed. But it appeared that this season was over…

Until social media connected us again and a young man wrote, “Hi, I am your godson, and you are my godmother. Do you remember me?”

“Where are you?” I asked.

“I am in prison,” he answered, “but I have a little girl, and I want you to meet her.”

That's when we realized God had heard my prayers. My boy did not come into our lives just for a season. He came for a reason, and maybe for a lifetime. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not yet here, but today is the day that has been given to us. A new journey has begun.
