New digital edition of a classic bird book by the Rev. J. M. McWilliam, a founding member and first Honorary President of the Scottish Ornithologists’ Club.

The book was written in the 1920s when the author was a Church of Scotland Minister at St. Brendan’s Church, Craigmore, Rothesay. Over the years The Birds of the Island of Bute has become a much sought-after collector’s item and copies in good condition have sold for well over £100 on the internet.

This new Kobo edition includes a biography of J. M. McWilliam, telling the story behind the writing of The Birds of the Island of Bute and its sequel The Birds of the Firth of Clyde, which is also published in the Kobostore. An interactive Species List allows instant access to the book’s 168 species descriptions. The ebook includes the original photographs featured in the 1927 print edition.
