Two-thousand years into the future, mankind has rebuilt from nuclear annihilation and are more technologically advanced than humankind has ever been. During their rebuilding, an amazing discovery was made, an ornate golden box which holds a blue crystal. After years of research, it is discovered that the crystal was encoded with the genetic code of a twenty-first century human, and the means to recreate that human is within their power.

John Alkali, a scientist from the twenty-first century is reborn more than two-thousand years after his death to find a world that has changed drastically from the one he died in. A peaceful society where the needs of everyone are met, a world without war and strife, a planet united in its purpose to colonize the solar system, and eventually make the leap beyond it. John meets a nice girl, and starts a family, a celebrity to the world, as only he truly knows the roots of where humans came from.

But the more John learns about his new world, the more he realizes that it hasn't changed as much as it appears to have, and he discovers that the people aren't as happy in their utopia as he was led to believe. The more truth he uncovers, the closer he comes to his destiny. But will he save humanity, or destroy it?

"The Key of Immortality" is the first book in the trilogy of "The Chronicles of John Alkali".
