The Firebird

Based on a Russian folk tale, this One Act Play tells of the magical Firebird and her quest to destroy Kastchei, a sorcerer who has hidden his death. A Matched Set of Thirteen Princesses is under his spell, which must be broken before Princess Sonya can marry Prince Ivan. Zopak, the Prince’s friend, might be able to help, but can he do so before Kastchei turns him to stone?
A centuries old tale of magic and magical creatures and of how friendship and courage triumph over evil, this brief play condenses the action for contemporary audiences, yet retains all the wit, humour, and suspense.
