In this second book of the Owl Tale Series you will meet eight different princes: Charles, who has an eating disorder; Rolf, who can't stay off his cell phone; John, who has debilitating nightmares; Jose, who is bullied; Carl, who loves to dance; Edgar, who has trouble communicating; and Harry, who longs to see his absent father. Each young man faces challenges and finds support in his family or community, and from a family pet, Ozzie Owl. He plays a significant role in each story and uses his extraordinary powers to help the prince. Today families take many different forms. Some families have an absent parent, or may be blended. Children from broken families often have difficulties in school and social interactions. They may let their feelings be widely known or hide their true feelings. Teens may retreat from the world, or even wish to run away from home. Others find themselves left out, bullied or treated differently because of their ethnicity, religion or appearance. I wrote these tales in fairy tale form to facilitate discussion of these issues with parents, teachers, counselors, and therapists.
