Yes! The Spirit of the Lord is upon me! He has anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor, the afflicted, and to help mend the broken hearts that are everywhere. Yes! The Spirit of the Lord is upon me to comfort all those who mourn, to give them a mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting, and to tell the captives they are free! There is no condemnation when the Son has set them free! Yes! Whom the Son sets free is free indeed. Jesus spoke from the book of Isaiah in his Fathers temple that the Spirit of the Lord was upon Him. He read out loud to the Jewish people from the book of Isaiah 61:1. But when he got to the next verse, he only read a part of it. He stopped at to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord. He closed the book and handed it back to the attendant. Then he looked straight into the peoples faces and told them that they were looking at the scripture being fulfilled right before their very eyes. If he had read the rest of the verse, he would have read and the day of vengeance of our God. However, he did try to soften the blow by merely reading a part of that verse. But that didnt work either. They sat there gazing at him and saying, Is this not Josephs boy?
