Once upon a time, in an era long forgotten, an alien and a ghost were having an argument.  For days the two unlikely companions had been walking deep in the hills of the Mojave Desert, and it would appear that they were lost.

“I would appear that we’re lost,” said the ghost in a wispy voice, shaken by nerves.

“I told you, Whisper,” snapped the cantankerous little spaceman, “we are not lost.  I know exactly where we are.”

“Then where are we, Zid?”

The little green man with the massive black eyes tried to stand tall and brave as he stared into the shadowy eyes of the ghost.  This of course was rather difficult, seeing that Zid was only three feet tall, but he had the pride of a giant nevertheless.  “We are almost to Roswell,” he said confidently.

In truth, they were 900 miles from Roswell.

“It’s right over there,” said Zid, in a tone he felt would be comforting to the nervous spirit.

“Oh.  Okay,” replied Whisper.  The ghost tried to smile, but found it hard to do so.  They hadn’t seen a sign of life, or water, for longer than he cared to think about.  Being a vaporous presence, the ghost had to get some water soon or he would evaporate completely.  Already the process had begun.  His body was becoming even more transparent, and his features were fading to grey smoke.  “Just so long as we reach water soon,” he reminded the alien.
