Graham Walker began giving away excerpts from his life story written on A4 sheets of paper inserted in his Big Issues. The response from his customers was overwhelming and queues formed at Graham's pitch every week as people eagerly awaited the next instalment. Graham and illustrator 'Pete The Brush' self-published the book, and it was then published by Tangent Books.

Graham remains homeless and continues to work selling The Big Issue South West. He is particularly well known in the Bristol, Somerset, Devon, Dorset and Cornwall areas. He was once voted Barnstable's Citizen of the Year for raising thousands of pounds for local charities from his Big Issue pitch. The book also features 19 exceptional illustrations by ‘Pete the Brush'.

Graham Walker raises many interesting points in his writing. One, is why is he so damn talented? Two, is why isn't he off making inroads into the Booker Prize and other literary awards? Perhaps he will.

John Bird, Founder and Editor-In-Chief of the Big Issue
